Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the preferred approach by the NHS and has been proved to be exceptionally effective in the treatment of many disorders such as:

- Eating disorders
- Fears and anxiety
- Depression
- Low confidence
- Self esteem
- Alcohol abuse
- Sexual dysfunctions
My approach is to use a combination of NLP and CBT to help clients to understand the source of their emotional upset and pain and to build and construct a new positive view of themselves and the world.
I help clients to recognize and challenge where their thinking may have become maladaptive and to challenge any negative automatic thoughts to test against the facts. It is through this exploration of automatic thoughts and underlying beliefs, clients can take control.
The sessions are conducted in a collaborative manor, where I will work with you step by step to provide you with the emotional resilience and coping strategies that you will use in your everyday life. It is through this understanding of how conditions develop and continue that you can break the cycle and start getting your life back, by not allowing the condition to define who you are!
CBT works by changing people's attitudes and their behaviour. The therapies focus on the thoughts, images, beliefs and attitudes that we hold (our cognitive processes) and how this relates to the way we behave, as a way of dealing with emotional problems. It is these core beliefs that shape your thoughts and ultimately how you respond to an event.

Clients attend a session a week, each session lasting either 50 minutes or an hour. During this time, we are working together to understand what the problems are and to develop a new strategy for tackling them. CBT introduces you to a set of principles that you can apply whenever you need to, and which will stand you in good stead throughout your life.
In essence, the end goal is for you to become your own therapist with the internal tools to question and challenge any negative thoughts and emotions and create a more positive realistic picture of yourself.
It requires commitment as a large part of the journey together is you applying what you have learnt in the session to your everyday life and completing homework exercises.
Together we can make the change you desire and be free from your upset and pain!
